Top 5 Meal Prep Frequently Asked Questions Answered

$

If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I've been meal prepping for a few months now, many of you have asked many questions regarding prepping. So in today's post I answer my Top 5 Meal Prep frequently asked questions.

1)  Why do you meal prep?
I blogged about that here in my post, Why I Started Meal Prepping.

2)  Do you get tired of eating the same thing everyday?
The short answer would be no.

I've always been an on again off again lunch packer most times including less than healthy options.  Meal prepping and  planning to eat the same thing everyday takes the guess work and disappointment out of at least, my lunchtime meals at work. I'd much rather prefer to know that my meals are prepared and tasty than buying and throwing away horrible food. Meal prep definitely alleviates this problem and saves me time and money.

I've suggested on Instagram that if you don't like eating the same thing perhaps you could prepare two meats per week and alternate, you can also prepare salads, or get even more creative with recipes. Or start small and try three days at a time. The key is figuring out what works best for YOU, this works for ME!

Sites I enjoy for motivation and inspiration:

Do you freeze your food? Does it go bad?
No, I do not freeze the food. I allow my food to cool completely before I seal the containers. I make sure to use air tight containers, like these and then I refrigerate everything. The food does not go bad at all. I use spinach in my salads instead of lettuce to keep moisture to a minimum and I core my cucumbers or cut them very thin. If I decide to add anything else to my salad I pack it on the side to avoid wilting. You might want to purchase a Salad or Produce Keeper like this one.

Do you measure your portions?
No, I do not necessary measure with a scale, however, I do pay attention to the suggested serving size on the label of the food. I try to stay within those recommendations. Most times I find that I'm able to stretch the portions. I do however, measure my snacks with Great Value Portion Pack Snack Bags from WalMart.

What is your eating schedule?
Generally, I eat breakfast at 9am, snack at 11am, lunch at 2pm, snack around 4pm and dinner no later than 7pm.

In no way am I claiming to be an expert on this but I've found that this works for me. In sharing, my hope is that this will help you all and encourage you to just try it out yourself.

The key is to figure out what works for you!

The Rebirth of Love: My New Poodle Puppy Prince

A few weeks ago, I visited my brother, sister in law and niece, to my surprise they had a new puppy, I fell in love with Daisy, so much so, I quickly asked my brother to contact the "Poodle Lady" in hopes that she had one more. I was in luck she had three, although she only had boys left and I really wanted girl I told her to save one for me. She quickly sent me a text message with pictures of the remaining miniature poodles she had left of the litter. For some reason the middle poodle stuck out to me, so I quickly set up an appointment to pick him up.

When the day came and it was time to pick my new puppy up I couldn't contain myself, I was so excited! His name had been chosen and I'd purchased a few things like a dog carrier, food a few toys, so that he would be right at home. It's as if Prince knew that I was his Dog Mom because when I arrived after about 15 minutes he came over to me on his own, the other dogs payed me absolutely no attention. Being a huge crybaby, I was so overjoyed and almost brought to tears but I didn't want to look silly in the Poodle Lady's home,  so I sucked it up, lol.

Taking the leap and getting Prince was one of the best choices I've made in a while, I feel like God sent him to me, honestly, I do! I needed someone/thing to love!
Prince is a 10 week miniature poodle. He loves to cuddle and give mom kisses. He's still learning to potty train but already knows his name and is now fetching his toys, he's so smart! He's an absolute joy and has brought so much happiness into my life and I'm so honored to have him poop on my floor, lol.

Don't worry you will be seeing more of him on the blog and if you follow me on Instagram you've already gotten a dose of his adorableness.

I have a love hate relationship with social media most time, currently I'm re-kindling my love affair with Instagram. Take a peek into what I was up to last week.

Weekend wear at the mall.

My first photoshoot as a photographer. Shooting the Spring 2014 collection of Illustrious Jewelry by Liz I was so excited to shoot and I love the way the pictures turned out.

Last week I started lunch time work outs. This was day two.

I got two new pair of shoes from Urban OG, see the other pair here.

After Prince was groomed, he finally let me snap a picture at the end of the night. He is so adorable!

My niece turned 21 and I wore this Old Navy dress to her party.

I shared my first meal prep video #SC360Health.

{Workout} Shoe Shopping with Shoe Carnival + an Outfit #Unboxed

When I started working out a few months ago, I had no idea that my endurance and intensity level would increase in such a short period of time, I’d thought I’d be prepared after I purchased a pair of shoes a few months ago, however, with increased intensity comes a greater need for support.

So, when I learned a new Shoe Carnival store had recently opened in Troy, MI, I was eager to get some feedback before I went shoe shopping. Of course, whenever, I need fast feedback, I ask my followers friends on Instagram. When I asked “Which brand of shoes they preferred to workout in?” most of the commenters said they preferred Asics. All agreed that the cushion and support of the Asics Gel was great, because of this feedback I put Asics Gel on the top of my list when I headed to Shoe Carnival.

When I arrived at the store and found the Asics section it was pretty impressive, I found the Asics Gel Noosa Tri 9and tried them on. I jogged in place and simulated a few exercises and I could tell an immediate difference, they were much more supportive, you guys were right! They were also very comfortable and so cute and colorful! So of course I was sold! I also made sure to check out two of my favorite comfort brands, Skechers and Rockport before I headed to checkout.

Although one of my followers commented "Good running shoes can’t be picked based on if they match your workout gear…” I’m glad this colorful pair alleviates that problem, they literally match everything! It’s the blogger in me always finding a way to incorporate style in any form or fashion…pun intended, hehe.  Don’t worry fashionistas I’ll share my outfit details in another post!

So, if you’re in the Metro-Detroit area, make sure you check out the newest Shoe Carnival location, I mean who doesn’t love shopping a newly opened store, you’re sure to find some steals and deals!

Monetary compensation was provided for this post, however all views and opinions are my own.

Totally, Should Have Purchased the Top to Match These Florals Pants

Initially when I bought this cute pair of floral joggers from Forever 21 plus I was hesitant to purchase the matching woven top, but I think I will go ahead and make that purchase! I'd pair the look with some cute pointy toe heels and it would surely make a statement! I'll admit, head to toe matchy-matchy scares me, but hey what's fashion without risks?!

How do you feel about wearing the same print from head to toe?

I had the pleasure of attending my very first tea party with Liz on Saturday. Liz is the Detroit Chapter leader for Girls of Royalty and decided the Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired tea party hosted by a vintage store, Flossy's suitcase would be a great event for the Royal Girls to takeover! I quickly agreed and was very excited to attend.
Flossy's Suitcase owner, Ramona
Our hostess extraordinaire, Christina
The store owner, Ramona was a sheer delight and the beautiful 14 year old Christina was a very gracious hostess. I really had a great time and cannot wait to attend the next one. Liz and I even won the raffles.

We had a grand time sipping tea and chatting with new and old friends. While there, we browsed and shopped the fabulous pieces in the store! Such great finds!

If you're in the metro Detroit area, be sure to check out Flossy's suitcase for fabulous vintage finds.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Inspired Look

What better to reason to get all dolled up then to attend a Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired tea party? At first, I was a bit overwhelmed at the thought, because I don't have much black in my closet, but then I remembered I'd purchased this fabulous peplum hem midi skirt. I quickly remembered my sheer polka dot shirt and thought this would be perfect for the party.

If you notice in the pictures I switched up my accessories, that was after I found this lovely gold belt and cute little black clutch at Flossy's Suitcase, which is the fabulous vintage storefront that hosted the fabolous party! I really like the cutesy touch these accessories added and thought they really captured the Breakfast at Tiffany's feel, yet updated it a bit.

If you missed my recap of the event, head here to check it out here

Have you ever been to a tea party?

I'm wearing: Sheer Polka dot blouse from H&M (sold out) but I love this one, and this is cute too! Peplum skirt from Boohoo.com get it here,  Enzo Angiolini pumps they're old, but these are a great option,

Make a Bold Statement...It's All in the Blazer

It's been almost three years since I've worn this amazing statement blazer from Lily Kai Vintage (shop currently closed). For the last few years I've waited to style it and wear it again. Last Friday, I attended the TechWeek Detroit fashion show and I thought this would be a great time to pull out this beauty.
This time around I paired the blazer with mostly thrifted items, you all know I love a great vintage or thrifted piece. As a plus size women, I hear that it is extremely hard for my curvy girls to find things that fit while thrifting. I think it takes a bit of imagination when thrifting. You almost have to see things for their potential and also think outside of the box while thrifting!
Take these pants for instance, I found them in the mens section of the thrift store, but who would have guessed, because I wanted the slouchy/baggy look a men's pair of jeans worked perfectly!

I'm definitely still very obsessed with thrifting...you just never know what treasures you will find!

When Chargrel's Couture gifted me this fabulous Fly Chica Sweatshirt, I knew I would have to wear it to the airport during my vacation! What I love about the sweatshirt is it's cropped and has a high low effect in the back, it's also made from recycled material, which I think is pretty cool! This sweatshirt definitely kept me Fly while I Flew!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I missed my flight while heading to Miami, I had also booked a Blacklane black car and quickly needed to switch my reservation. Switching it out was easy peezy on my MacBook and I had no issuesrequesting a new vehicle.

Once I arrived to baggage claim, my driver Anthony was waiting for me with a sign that read Style Chic 360 truly made me feel like a star!! Once in the car he even had a bottle of my favorite water, Fiji,  waiting for me. It's touches like those that leave a lasting impression. During the 30 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale to Miami, Anthony and I chatted and shared many laughs.
He even told me about The Wynwood Arts District. Wynwood is filled with art that cover the businesses, I definitely made sure I found the area before leaving Miami! Anthony was courteous, and very professional and I'll definitely use Blacklane again.

Vacation Style: The Bell Sleeve Romper

When packing for vacation a couple weeks ago, I shopped my closet to find pieces that I'd either totally forgotten about, never worn or only worn once. I know I'm not the only one with that problem....right?! That's when, I stumbled across this ASOS Curve Bell Sleeve romper, that I'd only worn once to my cousins wedding. See the original post here.
This romper is truly a gem and I posted a while ago on Instagram post here, that I wanted to shorten or remove the sleeves, while most advised me to step away from the scissors...I chose to keep them.  I'm so glad I did!
This jumpsuit had so much movement while strolling the Norwegian Sky cruise ship,  and I felt sexy in it, without being over the top!
This time around I went for a monochrome look. Pairing it with one of my favorites the minimal ankle strap sandal, these I picked up while in New York last year at Rainbow of all places. Adding my custom, handmade and dyed earrings from Illustrious Jewelry by Liz added the perfect touch to this feminine look!
Sidenote** Yooo, look at my calves!!! Body bootcamp is paying off!! hehe!

Because Liz and I got a suite on the cruise we were able to meet the captain during a quaint cocktail party, this was the perfect look for the occasion. Wouldn't you agree?

When's the last time you shopped your closet?

Vacation Style: Swimwear | The One-Piece

It's no secret I am not too fond showcasing my stomach, it's one of my least favorite features, so my absolute go-to for swimwear is always a one piece! Since my new body is still a work in progress, I made sure to pack an oversized jacket I scored from Imperfect Concepts that I'm using as a kimono/cover up/hide my assets and hips...lol. It's pairs so nicely with this coral one-piece I found at Forever 21 while I was in New York last year for FFFWeek.

I paired this look with my favorite earrings from the upcoming Bedrock collection from the Trice Clark Brand. These handmade earrings actually made me feel a bit like Pebbles from the Flinstones with the combination of my braids! Definitely very Bedrock!

These pictures were taken on the beautiful Great Stirrup Cay island in the Bahama's.
I honestly did not want to leave the island it was truly beautiful!

The water was absolutely amazing...blue green and so warm!

Graphic T-Shirts + Midi Tutu's! #WomenArePowerful

When DSR Apparel reached out to me to be a part of the launch (they launched today!!) of their new t-shirt line,"The Power Collection" I was very excited to support this brand!

When founder Jessica R. Simmons launched DSR Apparel, she set out to create t-shirts that would allow the woman wearing them to express who she is to the world in a positive way.

She also wanted to create t-shirts that made the woman wearing them feel transformed – like her own personal super hero – powerful, bold and confident.

DSR Apparel was created for the modern and empowered woman. [source]

Through life's ups and downs I've overcome and at 31, I stand empowered.

When I saw the Queen t-shirt, I knew this one was for me! I am a woman who is powerful, strong, intelligent and an overcomer! I am royalty...a Queen, and definitely know my worth!  When choosing a name for my puppy, I settled on Prince because I wanted everyone to know that my dog was royalty just like his mom! So I definitely knew I would incorporate Prince in this shoot somehow someway!

I had a very strong vision with these pictures and styling this graphic t-shirt and with the help of my friend Liz, my look came to life! Liz actually made my skirt and Prince's bow tie. The skirt dressed up this t-shirt perfectly! Definitely, adding a classy and confident element to the look, matching the mantra of the Queen tee. Thank you again friend, you are amazing!!

I've always been on the fence when it came to white shoes but when I saw these from Urban OG, I had to have them! Mainly because of the neon accents and the laces. I'm quite bias to lace ups and you guys know I looooove neon green! Paired these with another favorite, black and white stripes and I was a cute referee, hehe!

Hi guys! Quick post today because I stayed up all night tweaking the new layout of my blog...did you notice? Please note, I'm not quite finished so if you notice some kinks don't worry they will be fixed by Monday.

Today's look is perfect for a white party or night on the town. I found this gorgeous sequin top while thrifting a few months ago and fell head over heels in love with it. Unfortunately, I took these photos at night on the balcony of our suite on the Norwegian cruise ship so these pictures don't capture it in it's full glory. So I apologize for the quality! Still that doesn't decrease my love for this top, isn't it beautiful?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I can't seem to get enough of crop tops and maxi skirts! Whenever I wear this custom maxi skirt by Chargrel's Couture (Remember, you saw it here first and here on Instagram) I always feel ]great in it. It's so colorful, flowy and fun and did you notice it has pockets! Don't you just love skirts with pockets? They are so cute! This was the perfect look to stroll Nassau, Bahamas during my vacation.

If you watched my latest YouTube video, the plus size tag (Part I,Part II) then you know I said this season I was going to play around with the crop top. I think for me, pairing crop tops with high waist bottoms works best for my frame. I'm a fan of peek-a-boo skin.

Have you rocked a crop top this season?

Vacation Style: The Two Piece | What Comfort Zone?

When packing for my vacation, I packed this two piece from Forever 21 Plus, but I had absolutely no intention of actually wearing it, because it is was so out of my comfort zone.  On top of that, when I purchased this suit I had to purchase a 3x to compensate for my boobies (whomp, whomp), so the bottoms are HUUUGE! Luckily this year Forever 21 is selling the bikini tops and bottoms separately, so you won't have that problem.

Well, after unpacking my suitcase, it's as if this leopard print just kept calling me, I could hear it saying "Inez, wear me"...lol. Needless to say, I did it! I stepped out of my comfort zone and wore a two-piece and honestly it wasn't bad at all, I even wore it two different ways. I think I may try another two-piece before the summer is out, this time my focus will be on fit and most of all support.

Here are a few I'm loving from ASOS Curve and Forever 21.

Miami Style: Culottes and Makeshift Crop Tops

Hey guys! I hope you're having a great week! As we draw nearer to an extended weekend, I thought I'd share an outfit I wore once I arrived in Miami for vacation. I snagged these cute little printed culottes at Forever 21 right before I left. I love that they are so colorful and can be mixed with just about anything, I can even see myself pairing them with tights and a sweater during the cooler months.

Can you guys believe I've already worn them about four times, lol! There's just something about culottes that I love, so flowy and fun! I threw on my chambray button up and thought why not make it into a crop top, so I tied and tucked the ends. This look was comfy, playful and a little flirty without being over the top. Perfect for dinner and strolling South Beach, on the first night in Miami. After a long day of layovers and missed flights, I just wanted to be comfy and cute.

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend! Please save me a plate if you barbeque, lol!

Printed Palazzo Pants | and a Lesson of Forgiveness

You guys know when you hear a quote or scripture multiple times but it never really touches you until you've "Grown" through something? One that really sticks out to me today is:  Forgiveness is for you.  I'd heard this numerous times over my adult life, but it never truly meant anything to me, until I had a great test with forgiveness.
Admittedly, I've had my share of battles with harboring unforgiveness and holding on to wrongs and hurt that people have inflicted on me, both intentionally and unintentionally. Y'all know how it is, sometimes you don't won't to forgive, and other times it's almost as if you can't!

If you follow me on Instagram @StyleChic360, then you know every Tuesday morning I join Triumph Church (my church home) for 6AM prayer. This morning's prayer really hit home.

During Pastor Kinloch's prayer said that if we don't deal with the hurt, it'll spill over into other areas of our lives.

How do you forgive? You first need to realize what forgiveness is: It separates the person from the pain and brings healing! Allow grace and justice to come into place and get down on your knees and ask God to change your heart. Give up seeking revenge on others and put in God's hands and it will make your life a lot brighter! Yessss! Forgiveness is for me!

It's time to LET IT G-O!

Join us for Tuesday Prayer weekly at 6AM EST, same number each week (855) 312-2106
